Engineering Design Technology in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing
What skills will I learn?
What will I do on the job? n CAD Drafters/Operators in the manufacturing industries create drawings and documentation using a variety of CAD software with the ability to interface with other types of software for manufacture of parts and tooling. The job requires an ability to work both independently and within a team environment, interfacing with engineers, marketing staff, manufacturing personnel and others involved in the manufacturing process. n CAD Drafters often progress to technical design positions where they will design parts and products which requires application of knowledge in materials and manufacturing processes. This usually requires the ability to design parts using 3-dimensional CAD modeling techniques and the outputting of the databases for the models to computer-aided-manufacturing software for fabrication and assembly of products. CAD software taught at NSCC is: AutoCAD R2000; AutoDesk Inventor 4; PADS; SolidWorks; Pro/ENGINEER. Electronic Related Technologies

Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning Program
The HVAC program provides system design training in heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. The learning area is a large laboratory equipped specifically for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration instruction. A Certificate of Completion is granted after successful completion of three quarters of day-time instruction. An Associate of Applied Science Degree is available upon completion of additional mathematics, science, computer aided drafting, English and general education courses. In 1975, the Puget Sound HVAC Industry started the HVAC program at NSCC to train employees for the Industry. Currently in Washington, there are more jobs available than there are qualified people to fill the jobs. Therefore, when employers have job openings they contact the Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Design Technology instructors and advisors at North Seattle Community College. Our graduates are successfully employed as systems applications specialists, manufacturer's representatives, engineering aides and more. Construction and Design Drafting Program
Graduates of this two-year program are prepared for the growing number of entry-level jobs in engineering, construction and architectural firms. CAD (computer-aided design) systems provide state-of-the-art graphics training. Coursework includes conventional and computer drafting, basic engineering mechanics, shop drawing preparation, cost estimating, and construction materials and processes. The program includes general education requirements, providing a well-rounded education. CSC 142 Intro to Programming CSC 143 Programming II
