Overview:
Lindbergh High School is a comprehensive four-year school. Class offerings
in academic college preparation, and career and life skills. One unique
feature of Lindbergh is the cooperative team teaching of applied academic
classes. Material Science is a hands on applied chemistry program, and
Principles of Technology/Robotics is a hands on applied physics curriculum.
Our manufacturing curriculum has been aligned with the MTAG Competencies,
and efforts are made to prepare students for further career choices.
Other courses offered are in Business, Graphics Design, Drafting, Computer
Applications, Construction, and Robotics. Each year, our school sponsors
a robotics competition for over on hundred teams from Western Washington.
Classes are scheduled on a rotating schedule that allows students over
on hundred minutes per class period.
Manufacturing Program:
Lindbergh's manufacturing program is centered in a traditional wood
working facility. Our program addresses basic shop skills, measurement,
tools and equipment, safety, processes, quality control, teamwork, individual
responsibility, and planning. Several team projects are "manufactured"
each semester. Currently, our classes are manufacturing Adirondack chairs.
Manufacturing includes tool building, jigs and fixtures, process schedules,
cost analysis, quality control and inspection, and record keeping. Students
actually write and sign contracts to produce components, produce subassemblies,
and complete chairs. Accurate record keeping, materials control, schedules
for delivery, and customer satisfaction are stressed.
